About the role:
The overall purpose of the Recovery Practitioner, Women's Early Intervention Service (WEIS) is to provide client-centred support to individuals referred through the WEIS Program - Court Link, Police at Brisbane Watch-House and Brisbane Central and Brisbane South Probation and Parole offices.

The Recovery Practitioner - WEIS will provide case management support to women who are in contact with the Brisbane Magistrate's Court or are on a probation and parole order at the Brisbane Central and Brisbane South Probation and Parole office. The role will act as a service system navigator and advocate to access to other support services with a specific focus on addressing the immediate housing needs of women at their point of contact with the criminal justice system.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity, working 60 hours per fortnight based at our Toowong service. Pay rate commencing at $49.28 per/hr - in accordance with the Social and Community Services Award.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement case plans, facilitate goal setting, and address support needs through collaborative case management.
  • Build partnerships with Probation and Parole, local Housing Service Centre, and relevant services to ensure effective support, safe housing, and alternative solutions to remand.
  • Conduct ongoing risk assessments, provide advocacy for housing and safety, and assist with accessing necessary health and support services, including domestic and family violence resources.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date Service User records and comply with reporting processes for incidents and complaints.
  • Facilitate Service User/staff feedback surveys and complete additional administrative tasks as needed.
  • Adhere to and promote the service framework focusing on self-determination, social justice, and strengths-based approaches.
  • Support the implementation of quality practice enhancements and evidence-based innovations, and stay updated with current methodologies through relevant networks.
  • Foster positive relationships within the team, actively engage in meetings, and provide supportive peer interactions
  • Contribute ideas for improving work processes, participate in professional development, and assist with implementing changes for continuous improvement.

Qualifications, Credentials and Other Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work, Human Services or a related field, and/or equivalent practical experience
  • Current National Police Check
  • Current Blue Card
  • Current Queensland Driver Licence
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the service region.
  • Ability and willingness to work outside of standard business hours and provide on-call support as required.

About You:

  • Experience with case management and assessment of adults - especially women who have a history with the criminal justice system.
  • Knowledge of the public and community housing sector.
  • Understanding and application of Trauma Informed practice and Recovery Oriented practice.
  • Skilled in intervention strategies including family support, homelessness and at risk individuals.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Collaborative and productive; able to build rapport and develop relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Solutions-focused and self-managing with a strong emphasis on working as part of team.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office; capacity to learn and use other software and systems.
