Proudly serving the South East Qld community since 1999, Kummara provides emergency support, counselling, family support and assistance in the field of child protection, health and wellbeing to local Indigenous and non-Indigenous families in South East Qld. We work in partnership with a number of government and community organisations across South East Queensland to improve the health and well-being of our communities.
About the Service:
Family Wellbeing Service is a holistic case management program providing support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in the Brisbane South/South West region. The services works with families across the intervention spectrum and aims to build resilience and capacity in children, young people, parents, families and the wider community. The service also delivers community activities is highly engaged in targeted innovative in the community to support community for example HALT. Faily Wellbeing also has an embedded youth worker who works with young people who are in contact or are at risk of coming into contact with the youth justice system. Providing holistic case management supports, often with the family receiving support from family wellbeing also. The service is flexible and creative, meeting families where they are at to identify and support towards meeting the goals of the family. Support is not time limited and instead is focused on support that is goal focused
Tertiary Family Intervention Service works with families with active departmental interventional to build family capacity and increase safety. Referrals come directly from Child Safety (primarily Bayside Service Centre) and case management will be intensive in support towards reunification or addressing immediate worries to increase safety for families to remain together. Support is time limited to 9 months
About the role:
The purpose of this role is to provide effective and meaningful leadership and management oversight to a team of practitioners ensuring quality service delivery that is nurturing, promotes healing, builds resilience and capacity in children, parents, families and the wider Community which allows family and community to safely care for and protect their children. This role involves:
Leadership and management of a team, including team building, staff management, supervision and annual performance reviews.
Building a vision for the service and achieving key performance indicators for the service and staff.
Risk management.
Service monitoring and reporting in accordance with scope of service and the organisational strategic plan.
Leading growth and development of the service to ensure ongoing improved practice and service outcomes through a process of continuous improvement and client/stakeholder surveys.
Contributing to ongoing organisational continuous improvement initiatives.
About you:
Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or Behavioural Science, or tertiary qualifications in a related field with significant experience.
Full Registration as and if required by your profession.
A minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience in similar programs.
A minimum of 2 years demonstrated experience in leading and managing teams in similar settings.
Experience in working with at-risk children, young people and families, who are subject to child protection statutory interventions.
Experience in or knowledge of early intervention and family support practices ranging from Secondary family support to Intensive Family Preservation and Intensive Family Reunification models of practice.
A well developed risk framework that enables thorough assessment and response to risk in relation to families, the team and from an organisational perspective.
Strong community development and networking skills.
Non-judgmental attitude.
Well-developed task and time management skills.
High degree of motivation, initiative and creativity.
Commitment to and leadership in Kummara’s Family Partnerships Model or demonstrated ability to embed service models and qualities in practice.
Mandatory Requirements:
Positive Notice, Working with Children Suitability (Blue Card).
Current valid Queensland drivers licence.
