Automotive Detailing Department Manager
Our Client is seeking a driven leader to join their team as the Detailing Manager. Operating from a purpose built facility, The Detailing Manager is responsible for overseeing up to nine staff and the daily operations of the Detailing Department, ensuring all vehicles are cleaned, prepared, and presented to the highest standard in a timely and professional manner. This role involves leading a team, maintaining operational efficiency, and ensuring seamless coordination between departments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, train, and motivate a team of car detailers to consistently meet performance and quality standards.
Oversee the detailing process to ensure all vehicles are cleaned and detailed according to dealership and customer expectations.
Inspect all completed vehicles and coordinate with the Quality Controller prior to showroom delivery.
Ensure all vehicles are delivered to the showroom at least one hour before the scheduled handover or the night prior for morning deliveries.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment, adhering to all company WHS protocols.
Manage inventory and ordering of detailing supplies and equipment.
Liaise with CDC, Sales, and Delivery teams to ensure seamless coordination of vehicle handovers.
Take ownership of any rework and actively contribute to resolving customer concerns professionally and promptly.
Uphold company policies, procedures, and standards within the department.
Roster team members for the maintenance and presentation of stock and display vehicles.
Coordinate car wash maintenance with third-party suppliers.
Organise and transport vehicles as required for repairs or deliveries.
Carry out vehicle storage and stock control procedures.
Maintain and update relevant departmental documentation.
Conduct regular staff performance check-ins and annual reviews.
What we are looking for
Proven leadership ability with experience in team management
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality results
Strong customer service orientation with the ability to build client rapport
Effective communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Previous experience in vehicle detailing
Sound knowledge of the automotive industry
Valid manual driver’s licence
Certification or training in leadership or team management
Experience in quality control processes
Forklift licence (optional but beneficial)
