About the role
As the Coach Planning Officer, you are integral to the success of V/Line’s Operations Group.
You will play an integral part in planning short-term alternative transport (coach, bus, taxi) changes to meet the requirements of short-term special events and occupation plans, including any required supervisor coverage.
Key accountabilities include:
Plan and Coordinate Alternative Transport - Develop and manage coach/bus replacement plans for planned maintenance, disruptions, and special events, ensuring alignment with network activities.
Ensure Compliance and Efficiency - Review and adjust routes to meet compliance standards, optimise journey times, and ensure cost-effective, HVNL-compliant service delivery.
Create and Maintain Service Plans - Design coach service templates, supervisor grids, and accessible transport plans, including for public holidays and special events.
Engage Stakeholders and Build Relationships - Collaborate with internal teams and maintain strong partnerships with coach operators and contract managers.
Support Operational Excellence - Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, update procedures, and support the adoption of new technologies and systems.
Manage Resources and Data - Order and roster vehicles and staff, validate coach/bus data, and ensure accurate reporting to meet business needs
Provide Cross-Functional Suppor - Assist other departments with planning, documentation, and operational support as required.
About you
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
Previous experience in a similar role, planning or transport planning activities
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills is essential
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Adaptability to changing priorities and working towards timelines

Remuneration for this position will be in line with the V/Line Rail Operations and Administrative Employees Agreement 2023
