The Role
As a Grounds Person Gardener, you will be responsible to the Grounds and Maintenance Manager for duties associated with the day-to-day and long-term maintenance and development of the College grounds and environment, in a manner that is consistent with health and safety requirements.
This is an ongoing, full-time role, as a key member of the team working across the 19-hectare campus situated on Gabbiljee (Bull Creek).
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain the landscaped lawns and gardens of the College, using the designated maintenance and renovation equipment, machinery and methods.
Assist in maintaining and preparing sporting fields, including line marking and sports goal installation.
Assist with the planning and installation of new reticulation systems. Operate and program reticulation controllers. Carry out routine or emergency maintenance and repair to all types of sprinklers / reticulation systems..

As a person interested in horticulture you are someone who looks forward to coming to work in a busy and dynamic environment. Outgoing, personable, and service oriented you can quickly create strong working relationships within your team, across the wider College staff, and with external stakeholders, contractors and service providers. Able to work autonomously and juggle the many competing demands of a busy school environment.

Prioritization of safety in all aspects of work, including proper use of tools and equipment, adherence to safety protocols, and awareness of potential hazards for students and staff.
Able to adapt to changing weather conditions, seasonal variations, and evolving needs of the school.
A strong understanding of plant care, including planting, pruning, watering, fertilizing, and pest management is essential.
Ability to design and maintain attractive outdoor spaces, including knowledge of landscape design principles, hardscape installation, and irrigation systems.
Proven experience in troubleshooting problems and implement appropriate solutions.
