About the role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Construction Leading Hand to join our dynamic team at Alpha Rail. As a Construction Leading Hand, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of our construction projects in Yatala, Queensland. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the success of our growing business.

What you'll be doing

Supervise, coordinate and be hands on with the activities of construction crews to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards

Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, monitor their progress, and provide guidance and support as needed

Ensure that all safety protocols and regulations are strictly followed on the job site

Liaise with project managers to communicate progress, address concerns, and resolve any issues that may arise

Assist in the planning and scheduling of construction activities to optimise workflow and productivity

Provide on-site training and mentoring to less experienced crew members

Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the project, including timesheets, materials usage, and quality control reports

What we're looking for

Minimum 5 years of experience as a construction leading hand or in a similar supervisory role within the construction and rail industry

Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment, as well as an understanding of relevant safety regulations and quality standards. Rail industry experience would be favourable.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team

Problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, well-informed decisions in a fast-paced environment

Allrounder with experience in performing civil labour tasks

Commitment to safety and a strong safety-first mindset

Relevant construction-related certifications or training, such as a Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision, would be highly regarded.
