About Us
BLCAC is the Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) representing the Bunurong people of the South-Eastern Kulin Nation. We advocate for cultural heritage, land management, and community empowerment. Our work spans across Greater Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula, and the Bass Coast, ensuring the voices and traditions of our ancestors continue to be recognised and respected.
Your Role
As a Cultural Heritage Officer, you will be part of a passionate field team conducting cultural heritage assessments, archaeological excavations, and surveys across Bunurong Country. This hands-on role supports BLCAC’s responsibilities under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006, helping manage CHMPs, protect cultural sites, and promote understanding of Bunurong heritage, land, and culture. You'll collaborate with team members and stakeholders to ensure respectful and compliant heritage practices in the field.
The Cultural Heritage Officer role is part of our field team participating in cultural heritage assessments, archaeological excavations and field surveys identifying Aboriginal cultural heritage and cultural landscapes.
Position Accountabilities
Actively participate and perform fieldwork duties.
Attend meetings and training as required by the organisation.
Supporting BLCAC’s obligations under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006, including managing Cultural Heritage Management Plans (CHMPs) and Cultural Heritage Permits.
Conducting and participating in fieldwork activities, such as excavation, surveying, and recording cultural heritage materials.
Promoting understanding and respect for Bunurong heritage, culture, and traditional lands and waters.
Communicating with the BLCAC heritage unit.

National Police History Check (or willingness to obtain)
Current VIC Drivers Licence
