Our service delivery covers children, young people and adults in the Maitland, Newcastle, Hunter and Tweed region.
About the Role
TARGETED VACANCY - This is an identified position in accordance with Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Whereby being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent is a genuine qualification required to undertake this role to ensure the approach to service provision is effective, appropriate, and culturally safe.
As We Care continues to grow and expand our services, we are seeking experienced, identified female disability support workers to join our dedicated team on a casual basis.
This opportunity is based in Farley, supporting an identified woman with complex mental health needs. We are looking for professionals who are compassionate, reliable, and trauma-informed, with the ability to build trusting, respectful and safe connections.
This role includes sleepover shifts and requires flexibility across a 24/7 roster to ensure holistic and stable support for the participant.
This role specifies House Coordinator role for persons of a particular sex to meet the needs of the participants in accordance with an exemption granted from sections 8, 10, 25, 27 & 51 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
About You
You are responsible and able to build strong rapports. You have strong skills in maintaining positive, dignified and respectful relationships with participants, their families and other health and support workers
You're able to use clear and concise language in verbal communication and set clear boundaries
You have the ability to calmly de-escalate emotive situations
You have a full understanding of ‘duty of care’ and are able to deliver support services and escalate issues when required
You are able to write and maintain accurate written records and documentation
You're able to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
Requirements
Certificate IV in Community Service/Disability Services or equivalent qualification with equivalent experience in the disability or mental health.
Current unrestricted Drivers Licence
NDIS Worker Screen Check
WWC for paid employment
Current First Aid/CPR
