About the Role:

Under the leadership of the Managing Director in Melbourne, the Commercial Manager is pivotal in managing the commercial, contractual and financial aspects of the Project. They will be responsible for overseeing contract and financial management, ensuring compliance, mitigating risks and driving value throughout the lifecycle of a project with a complex commercial structure involving multiple partners and stakeholders.

The role will also contribute to building strong, trust-based relationships with the public transport authority, key stakeholders and partners, ensuring transparency and alignment on financial and contractual issues.

Commercial Management

Managing the full contract lifecycle, from negotiation and execution to comply with legal, organisational and industry standards

Reviewing and interpreting contract terms and conditions to ensure alignment with project objectives and regulatory requirements

Leading contract negotiations with our client, partners, subcontractors and stakeholders to establish fair and beneficial agreements.

Act as primary commercial point of contact with the partners and the public transport authority.

Financial Leadership

Oversee cost control, forecasting and reporting to support financial and operational decision-making financial modelling including change and modifications requested by the Public Transport Authority.

Ensure accuracy and robustness of revenue, cost, and investment projections.

Develop long-term financial plans and monitor financial performance against targets.

In conjunction with the finance team, assist with budget forecasting and financial reporting in coordination with shareholders’ finance teams.

Governance and risk

Identify financial and commercial risks and propose appropriate mitigation strategies.

Assessing the impact of proposed changes on contract scope, schedule, cost, and risk, negotiating necessary adjustments as required

Identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks related to contract performance, compliance, and execution, including financial, legal, and operational risks.

Ensure alignment with group financial policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.

Participate in internal and external governance meetings, representing the commercial and financial function.

About You:

Minimum 8 years of experience in commercial management of complex infrastructure projects and commercial structures with multiple partners and stakeholders.

Strong understanding of contract structuring, risk modelling, and performance management.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Strong leadership and people management experience

Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Law or related field.
