SafeWork NSW is undergoing an exciting and important period of transformation as we establish the organisation as a modern, strong and standalone Work Health and Safety Regulator.
An exciting ongoing opportunity has arisen for an Advisor, Privacy to join the SafeWork NSW Privacy, Records, and Data Governance team reporting to the Director Governance and Assurance.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess a great blend of skills, including:
- Highly motivated, flexible person who is passionate about improving privacy and risk awareness, capability, cultural uplift and driven to make a difference.
- High-level organisational skills and in depth understanding of privacy law, with experience providing privacy advice or performing privacy compliance duties in an Australian organisation under either the Federal privacy jurisdiction or a State (government) jurisdiction.
- Excellent communication, work individually, collaborate with peers and key stakeholders, seek targeted feedback and respond to changing priorities.
- Exceptional relationship management and influencing skills at all levels.
- Experience in project delivery to achieve business outcomes.
About the Role
The Privacy, Records, and Data Governance team is responsible for ensuring SafeWork NSW manages its data in compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal policies. You will play a crucial role in shaping and enhancing the privacy framework within SafeWork NSW.
This role operates in a fast paced, high-volume environment to support and facilitate the implementation and maintenance of best practice privacy management across SafeWork NSW. You will contribute to driving strategic priorities and transformation across the agency to improve privacy and risk awareness, capability, cultural uplift, with support from the Senior Privacy Coordinator and Manager.
Responsibilities will include:
- Providing support to the development and delivery of data and information governance initiatives across the organisation, to enable continuous improvement in SafeWork's management of data, information and records, and to ensure compliance with legislative, organisational, and government requirements.
- Providing privacy advice and support on complex and sensitive privacy issues.
- Ensuring compliance with the PPIP Act and the HRIP Act.
- Providing support on internal privacy reviews.
- Coordinating responses to data breaches in compliance with the PPIP Act.
- Assist with Privacy Impact Assessments on a range of projects, systems and suppliers as required.
- Delivering training to internal stakeholders to promote a culture of privacy awareness and compliance.

Salary Grade 7/8, with the base salary for this role starting at 110,266 base plus superannuation
