About the role
The Advisor, Cabinet plays a key role in leading assigned areas of Cabinet and Committee operations, supporting policy and project initiatives, and providing high-level advice to the Associate Director, Cabinet, and the broader team.
In this position, you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the department, portfolio, and wider government sector. A key focus of the role is advising and supporting stakeholders involved in Cabinet processes to ensure their contributions are timely, informed, and aligned with the effective operation of Cabinet and Cabinet Committees.
You will also lead and deliver projects related to Cabinet operations and policy priorities and play a central role in developing and facilitating training for staff across government agencies. This includes educating stakeholders on Cabinet protocols, processes, and the use of the eCabinet system.

We're Looking For
- Project Management: Experienced in planning, executing, and monitoring projects from conception to completion, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines
- Training and Development: Skilled in designing and delivering effective training programmes to a variety of audiences, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and accessibly
- Organisational Skills: Highly organised with strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate and high-quality work
- Stakeholder Engagement: A natural collaborator with strong interpersonal skills, maintaining professionalism while communicating with both internal and external stakeholders
- Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to think strategically and work both independently and collaboratively in a small team to deliver projects within competing timeframes
- Problem Solving and Adaptability: Solutions- and process-focused, with a proven ability to perform effectively in fast-paced and unpredictable environments, meeting strict deadlines and balancing competing demands
- Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to think strategically and work both independently and collaboratively in a small team to deliver projects within competing timeframes.
About the Cabinet Team
The Cabinet team, within The Cabinet Office, are the custodians of Cabinet conventions, practices and processes. Cabinet and Cabinet Committees are the fundamental decision-making bodies for the NSW Government to make policy decisions that achieve the government's objectives and benefit the people of NSW.
We ensure matters submitted for Cabinet consideration are submitted in the right way, at the right time, in line with government priorities and are of the highest quality. We provide advice to the Premier on all proposals coming to Cabinet from agencies to ensure alignment to government priorities.
We work across the entire sector to support the functioning of the Cabinet system by providing strategic advice and leading on Cabinet practice, developing products and systems, and using our skills and experience to create solutions. We deal with the new and the novel with no two days being the same. We are highly responsive to requests from stakeholders, endeavour to always perform at a high standard and have a keen eye for detail.
