We are currently looking for a Senior Project Officer - Governance to join a large state government department in Brisbane CBD. This is initially a 1 month contract with good chance of further extensions.
This role will play a significant role in ensuring the department is able to improve and uplift the information security management system as per the Queensland Government Enterprise Architecture QGEA Information Security Policy IS18:2018. The role will involve preparing high-quality documentation and engaging with stakeholders to ensure policies are effective, relevant and aligned with government priorities.
Key Objectives:
- To review and update policies and procedures relating to information management security.
- To liaise with stakeholders to ensure that the policies and procedures meet end-user needs.
- To contribute to communications planning and messaging and work with the Communications and Media team to publish and promote updated policies and procedures..
Responsibilities:
1. Documentation and Analysis:
- Develop and draft policy documents and briefing note for senior managers.
- Conduct research and analysis on policy issues, including review legislation, regulations and best practices.
2. Stakeholder Management:
- Consult and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
3. Program Evaluation and Monitoring
- Assist in the evaluation of existing policies and programs to assess their effectiveness and alignment with strategic objectives.
4. Documentation and Reporting
- Ensure all documentation complies with government standards, policies and procedures.
5. Compliance and Governance
- Ensure policies and programs comply with relevant legislation, regulations and ethical standards.
- Maintain accurate records and adhere to confidentiality and data protection protocols.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- High attention to detail
- Superior time management and organisational skills.
- Demonstrated experience in policy development, analysis or program evaluation
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to solve complex issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable (although not mandatory would be highly regarded):
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in public policy or a related field.
- Knowledge of Queensland government processes, legislation and policy frameworks.
Ethical Standards:
- Comply with ethical standards and conduct outlined by the Queensland Government, including integrity, accountability, and confidentiality.
- Adhere to the Queensland Government's policies regarding privacy, data protection, and record management.
