AO4 Project Officer (Traffic Data)

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is seeking a skilled and motivated AO4 Project Officer (Traffic Data) to support its North Coast Region operations. This contract role offers the opportunity to play a vital part in the coordination and delivery of traffic data services that inform critical transport planning and infrastructure decisions.
About the Role:
As the Project Officer (Traffic Data), you will be responsible for coordinating traffic survey activities by engaging contractors, providing technical advice, and managing data-related tasks. Your strong communication and stakeholder management skills will be essential as you liaise with internal clients to ensure safety, compliance, and accuracy in survey planning and data reporting.
You will use a range of computer software and databases to support project managers and teams, ensuring timely, compliant, and high-quality project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate new traffic survey requests, including procurement and contract processes
- Provide technical advice on survey locations, safety, and data accuracy
- Manage and maintain traffic-related inboxes (Traffic Surveys, Traffic Data) in Outlook
- Maintain spreadsheets and databases related to traffic data
- Input and manage traffic data in corporate systems such as the Traffic Analysis Reporting System
- Generate and distribute traffic composition reports to internal and external stakeholders
- Conduct occasional site visits
- Perform other administrative and data-related duties as required
Key Capabilities and Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Teams and Outlook
- Intermediate computer skills and willingness to learn new software systems
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent time management and organisational abilities
- Analytical skills with experience handling traffic or survey data (preferred)
Working Conditions:
- Full-time, up to 38 hours per week
- Standard business hours: 7:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday
- Maximum 8 hours per day in a 5-day week
- Overtime must be pre-approved in writing by the contractor’s line manager
