About Us

We are a private employer who require the services of a live-in carer for a 96 year old man with restricted mobility and low hearing capacity. We need a weekend team member and a weeknight team member.

You will have 2 reporting lines.

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Part Time Assistant (CPTA) to be part of our healthcare team. As an CPTA, you will provide essential support to a single elderly gentleman, in delivering high-quality care to this man. Your role will involve assisting with daily activities of:

1. Monitoring patient well-being; and

2. Maintaining a safe and comfortable environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist patients with personal care tasks such as assisting in daily medication PM and seeing he gets to bed safely.

Cook and or serve the evening meal.

Provide emotional support and companionship to patient.

Follow infection control and safety procedures.

Assist with mobility and transfers (has a walker – transfers to and from an in-house elevator, to and from vehicle on ground floor) using appropriate safe techniques.

Record and report patient information as required.

Collaborate effectively with nurses and healthcare professionals, and volunteer and paid assistants to ensure quality care.

Be on call between evening and roughly 09:00HRS.

No AM duties unless called out.

Qualifications and Skills

Able to assist with moving a larger gentleman from point to point on one floor, to and from an elevator to a car, bed, in and out of a chair, and bed.

Previous experience in a healthcare or aged care setting (preferred but not required).

Basic understanding of patient care procedures.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to support others.

No overnight visitors.

Happy to take direction.

Must have table manners.

Must have acceptable social graces.

Must be accent neutral.

Must be able to handle an older gentleman with severe hearing loss.
