Your Next Employer
Our client is a major player in Australia’s agricultural sector, owning and developing large-scale cropping assets across the eastern states. They’re known for their long-term investment mindset – acquiring high-potential farms and backing them with the infrastructure, systems, and people needed to succeed.
Situated on the MacKenzie River, approximately 115km north-west of Rockhampton, this 25,000ha aggregation includes around 4,000ha of cropping country, 500ha of which is irrigated.
The operation is in the midst of a significant shift from dryland to irrigated cropping, with development underway across a further 1,000ha. The property benefits from a reliable mix of red loamy sands and cracking clays, supported by strong water security from Fairbairn Dam and surrounding river systems.
The Role
This role is ideal for someone who’s practical, self-motivated, and enjoys being part of a growing, hands-on team. You’ll operate and maintain a modern fleet of machinery, support cropping programs, and contribute to ongoing development projects as irrigation country expands.
This role offers the opportunity to step towards an Overseer / Assistant Farm Managers position, should you wish. You'll gain exposure to all aspects of farm operations while utilising a modern fleet of John Deere and Case machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain modern broadacre cropping equipment (John Deere, Case, etc.)
- Supporting the maintenance of irrigation systems, farm channels, and general farming infrastructure.
- Perform general repairs, maintenance, and day-to-day farm duties
- Follow WHS procedures and contribute to a safe, efficient workplace
- Be proactive in supporting cropping schedules and seasonal tasks
What You Bring
We’re after a self-starter with a genuine passion for agriculture and machinery - someone who’s not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in. Hands-on experience in broadacre cropping and machinery operating is essential.
What You’ll Gain
- Competitive Package: $33 - $36ph plus penalties (OT), Super and a 3 or 4 bedroom house (inc utilities). Circa $85k - $100k + salary equivalent - calculated on 45-53 hour working week.
- Stability & Progression: Career development opportunities as the operation grows - clear pathway to Overseer / Assistant Farm Manager
- Skills & Exposure: Be part of a major irrigation development, using the latest ag tech and machinery
- Team Culture: Work alongside and learn from experienced managers and operators
