ABOUT THE ROLE

Lead a high-impact national training team delivering essential skills for Australia's defence and civil sectors.

We are seeking a strategic and experienced leader to take on the role of Manager Driver Machinery & Plant Training (DMPT). This is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing the national delivery of training services under a Defence Contract.

Reporting to the Director Defence Delivery, you will lead a team of six site-based leaders and ensure operational excellence, compliance, and alignment with Wodonga TAFE’s strategic direction. This role requires regular national travel and occasional work outside standard hours.

Selected Duties:

Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the DMPT department, ensuring alignment with Wodonga TAFE’s growth strategy and Defence contract obligations.

Lead and support six site leaders to deliver high-performing, compliant, safe and efficient operations across all locations.

Manage the DMPT business unit autonomously, setting priorities, achieving financial targets, and driving continuous improvement and innovation.

Advise the Executive team on DMPT operations and contribute to strategic planning, governance, and regulatory compliance.

Represent the department in internal and external forums, including with Defence and industry stakeholders, while promoting a psychologically safe and inclusive workplace.

Travel nationally to support site operations, stakeholder engagement, and ensure consistent delivery and accountability.

Ensure compliance with all contractual, financial, security, and training delivery obligations under the Defence Contract.

Skills & Experience

Experience and management expertise in an Administration/Business Management role.

Demonstrated ability to deliver project outcomes.

Sound commercial knowledge and experience.

Excellent Leadership skills with a people first approach.

Current Australian Driver's Licence.

Must be an Australian Citizen to be able to gain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.
