About Scyne Advisory
Our client, Scyne Advisory, is Australia’s leading independent public sector consultancy, dedicated to delivering high-impact, purpose-driven work that helps government clients build a more resilient, equitable, prosperous and safe Australia. They unite people, ideas and potential to shape solutions for public purpose around Australia through partnering with government, not-for-profit and citizen owned organisations.
If you’re motivated by meaningful work and want to make a real difference in people’s lives, Scyne Advisory is where your expertise will truly matter. It offers you the chance to join a growing, transparent consultancy that’s collaborative, values-driven, and free from the siloes found in larger firms.
The Opportunity
The Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) capability in Canberra currently has two permanent vacancies at the Senior Consultant level.
The GRC capability supports clients to achieve risk and compliance objectives in a proactive and sustainable way.
They work with clients to de-risk operations, programs and new initiatives through upfront advice, ensuring risk awareness is built in by design. They partner with eGRC technology providers to ensure their clients have access to the latest advances in risk and regulatory technology.
This capability is growing in Canberra to support its largely government client base across portfolios such as defence, health, social services, justice emergency services and regulatory bodies.
Engagements range from 3-month projects to multi-year transformations, giving you exposure to diverse challenges to drive your career.
You’ll be supported by senior leaders, work in collaborative teams of 4-8, and you’ll have a dedicated People Lead focused on your development and wellbeing.
The Role
As a Senior Consultant, you will:
- Help clients meet their governance, risk, and compliance obligations through practical, forward-looking advice.
- Support the design and implementation of risk management frameworks (including work health safety), control environments and assurance activities for organisations, programs, and initiatives.
- Deliver compliance reviews, maturity assessments, behavioural assurance and risk management advice that strengthen client capabilities and transparency.
- Embed risk-by-design principles into transformation and reform programs.
- Work alongside eGRC technology partners (e.g., ServiceNow, 6clicks, Protecht) to enable clients with modern, technology-enabled risk solutions.
- Support business development and proposal efforts, bringing your subject matter expertise and client experience to the table.
The Ideal Person
The ideal candidates for these roles are values-aligned professionals who thrive on solving problems that matter.
To be successful in this role, you will likely bring:
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in governance, risk management, compliance, or assurance – either in government or consulting.
- A bachelor's degree, ideally in accounting, business, behavioural economics, legal, organisational psychology, risk management, governance, compliance, investigations, evaluation, fraud or audit.
- Strong working knowledge of frameworks such as ISO 31000, AS 8000, or Commonwealth Risk Management Policy.
- Demonstrated ability to develop risk frameworks and assessments, compliance programs, assurance plans, or control testing frameworks.
- Excellent communication, client engagement, and relationship-building skills.
Not sure if you tick every box? That’s okay. If you’re excited about this role and believe you can make a difference, we’d love to hear from you
