Your new role
As the Assistant Director Governance and Risk, you will undertake complex and sensitive work that spans all areas of the agency, underpinning the accountabilities of the Audit & Risk Committee and the Senior Executive. You will be highly professional and strategic, with strong coordination, project management, analytical, communication, and people skills. You will exercise a considerable degree of independence and perform a leadership role within the team, across the agency, and with external stakeholders such as the Internal Auditor and the ANAO.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the maintenance, revision, and development of the enterprise risk management framework.
- Evaluating, developing, or revising business processes and reporting mechanisms related to risk management.
- Working to support the Audit and Assurance Committee.
- Ensuring Business and Continuity Plans are in place, tested, and up to date.
- Providing advice, guidance, and training on best practice risk management.
- Managing the internal audit program in conjunction with the internal audit service provider.
- Supporting public interest disclosure activities in collaboration with the Director of People Services.
- Managing, developing and facilitating any external audit programs.
- Championing organisation-wide knowledge of risk and ensuring risk mitigation practices are based on governance models of the PGPA Act 2013 and the Commonwealth Risk Management Framework.
What you'll need to succeed
In addition to the below, this role requires Australian Citizenship to apply.
- Extensive experience in governance and risk management.
- Strong project management and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- The ability to work independently and lead a team.
- Proven experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and understanding the issues affecting individuals and communities.
- Demonstrated cultural capability, including engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a sensitive and equitable manner.
- Individuals who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait islander are strongly encouraged to apply.
