About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Electronics Engineer to join our engineering team!!
The primary focus of this role is the diagnosis, repair, and testing of electronic assemblies, particularly Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) and railway communication equipment. You will be working with critical systems that support safe and efficient rail transport, so precision and a high standard of quality are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose faults in complex electronic circuits and components using advanced diagnostic tools.
Perform repairs and rework on PCBs including component-level troubleshooting and replacement (through-hole and surface mount).
Test and validate repaired equipment against performance specifications.
Maintain accurate records of test results, faults found, and repairs completed.
Collaborate with design and quality teams to identify recurring issues and support continuous improvement efforts.
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., EN50155 for railway applications).
Participate in equipment upgrades, firmware updates, and retrofit projects.
Support field service teams with technical advice and repair strategies as needed.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and industry regulations.
Skills & Qualifications:
Proven experience in PCB diagnostics, repair, and test.
Experience with rail communication equipment such as onboard units, modems, radios, or signalling hardware.
Strong hands-on skills with oscilloscopes, multi meters, soldering stations, and similar test equipment.
Understanding of safety and quality protocols relevant to the rail or transportation industry.
Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or rail industry standards is an advantage.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills & Requirements:
IPC certification for soldering/rework.
Experience working in a rail, aerospace, or high-reliability electronics environment.
Familiarity with automated test equipment (ATE) or test script programming.
Previous team leader / supervision experience (preferred)
Familiarity with soldering and rework of SMD components.
Full working rights essential
Subject to passing a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening
Valid Australian Drivers licence preferred
