About the role
Theatre Safe Australia is seeking a talented Junior Electronics Engineer/Technician to join our team on a contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting production activities, manage components and BOMs, assist with testing and troubleshooting, and contribute to circuit design and PCB layout.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in the electrical/electronic engineering field while contributing to the success of our innovative company.
What you'll be doing
Production Support
Preparation and review of BOMs
Selection, sourcing, and purchasing of electronic components, including identifying suitable alternatives
PCB assembly and rework – proficient in both SMD and through-hole soldering
Competent in computer applications such as Excel, Word, and basic inventory systems
Maintain accurate records and documentation of all work activities
Testing and Debugging
Functional testing of complex electronic PCBs
Skilled use of electronic testing equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, bench power supplies)
Fault diagnosis and PCB repairs
Analyse and diagnose issues, implement solutions, and document all work performed
Design & Development
Experience with PCB design tools such as KiCad (preferred) or Altium
Ability to modify and redesign existing PCBs based on testing feedback
Familiarity with designing multi-layer PCBs (2–4 layers) incorporating both SMD and through-hole components
What we're looking for
A bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field
1-3 years of experience in an electronics technician or junior engineer role, preferably in the theatre or entertainment industry
Strong understanding of electrical and electronic principles, including circuit design, troubleshooting, and maintenance
Proficient in the use of testing equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal generators
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and find innovative solutions
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team
Willingness to adapt to new processes, tools, and technologies
Positive attitude and proactive approach to problem-solving
