We are seeking a vibrant and enthusiastic Senior Accountant to join our highly motivated and talented team in Ballarat, in a permanent full-time capacity. The position may also result in the potential to become a Partner of the firm.

The role:

leading a small team to achieve company driven goals and directives

exposure to a variety of industries, including medical, professional services, trade, agriculture, manufacturing, hospitality, retail and property

assistance with and responsibility for the preparation of financial statements and income tax returns for clients including companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals

assistance with the preparation of business activity statements and instalment activity statements

preparation of fringe benefits tax returns and payroll tax returns

The ideal candidate will have:

at least 5 years prior experience in accounting with a strong academic track record

exceptional communication skills and leadership qualities to motivate and engage a small team

strong understanding of Australian Tax Law and accounting concepts

strong understanding of fundamental business concepts

strong ability to analyze and interpret financial information

a high focus on providing excellent client service

excellent time management and attention to detail

a positive attitude and the ability to work well with others

a strong work ethic and initiative

commitment to further training and professional development

What we'd love from you:

a least 5+ years' experience in an accounting practice

degree qualified and working toward, or preparing to work toward, obtaining CPA status

previous exposure to accounting and tax software

strong skills in using MYOB, Xero, FYI Docs and Intuit Quickbooks will be highly regarded

ability to identify how to maximize returns for clients and be able to understand deductibility of certain items
