ILC – ITALIAN LANGUAGE RESOURCE OFFICER

The Italian Language Centre (ILC), a division of Co.As.It. Community Services Ltd, is seeking for 2025 an Italian Language Resource Officer working remotely in the area of the Sunshine Coast for a maximum of 45 hours per fortnight from June to December. This is a contract position that is dependent from year to year from specific government funding.

The role entails being part of the ILC teaching team involved in identifying where the need arises for teachers of Italian employed by the schools where Italian is taught to receive support for Italian teaching and learning in State and non-State schools across the Sunshine Coast.

We are seeking a passionate and creative individual with experience in Italian language teaching to work with the existing team in providing support to teachers of Italian in the Sunshine Coast.

Supervision is provided by the Curriculum and Language Support Lead

To be considered successful in this role you will have the skills and abilities to:

use correct and current Italian terminology in the classroom

link the Italian classroom to requirements of Australian National Curriculum Languages v. 9 and QCAA Senior Italian Syllabus

create / review Italian teaching materials upon teacher request

review unit of work language targets and student assessment language outcomes

overview student oral speaking practice upon request

assist with specific projects/immersion incursions upon request

Prerequisites:

Native level of Italian with good written and spoken English

Previous experience in language teaching and learning

Tertiary qualifications –

Italian qualifications:

Laurea in lingue e letterature straniere – Bachelor's Degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures

Laurea in scienze pedagogiche – Bachelor's Degree in Pedagogical Sciences

Laurea triennale in scienze dell’educazione – Bachelor's Degree in Education Sciences

Laurea in lettere – Bachelor's Degree in Humanities (or Literature)

Alternatively, an Australian post-graduate qualification in education or similar.

One of the following qualifications for teaching of Italian as Second Language/Foreign Language would be an advantage: DITALS (University of Siena), DILS-PG (University of Perugia) or CEDILS (University of Venice, Ca’ Foscari)
