About the Role
You will join our Murdi Paaki Regional team within the Community Partnerships branch in the Aboriginal Affairs NSW group.
This role offers a meaningful opportunity to reconnect with community, help rebuild relationships and support local initiatives that reflect the needs and aspirations of Aboriginal people. As the Assistant Project Officer, you will be working closely with community members, attending meetings, and initiating projects that respond to regional priorities.
On a day-to-day basis, you'll assist with grant-related activities including assessments, variations, acquittals, and follow-ups, while also helping to deliver community-led projects and supporting key partnerships. This is a role for someone who is self-motivated, community-focused, and passionate about making a positive impact on the ground.

We're Looking For
- Stakeholder Engagement: You're able to build and maintain stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management
- Communication Skills: You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and concisely, and communicate confidently, in a culturally sensitively and articulately manner
- Project Management: You have demonstrated experience in supporting or managing projects, including drafting reports and briefs, coordinating resources, and tracking progress
- Technical Skills: You're proficient in electronic document management systems, databases, spreadsheets, and electronic communication applications, including MS Office software
- Adaptable: You bring a flexible approach to work, with a willingness to learn, adapt, and grow into more senior roles through ongoing development and upskilling
