Youth Justice

· Temporary, Full Time up to 30 June 2026 (Short-term Remand Program Coordinator)

· Temporary Full time up to 30 June 2027 (Senior Policy and Projects Officer)

· Location: 6PSQ - Parramatta

· Clerk Grade 9/10 Salary ($125,693 - $138,510 pa), plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

Your role

Develop, manage, and implement innovative policies and programs within the Division to support and improve service delivery for young people in contact with the criminal justice system. Provide specialist policy advice and high-level analysis on issues and strategies.

Senior Policy and Projects Officer (Short-term Remand Program Coordinator)

Youth Justice NSW is seeking to appoint a temporary full-time Short-term Remand Pilot Coordinator (Senior Policy and Project Officer) within the Whole of Government Initiatives Team.

As the Short-term Remand Program Coordinator, you will be required to work from Mascot Police station twice a week.

The Short-term Remand Pilot design is led by the NSW Police Force and Children's Court of NSW, facilitated by Youth Justice NSW, and designed collaboratively with local communities, the NSW Government and non-government organisations.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

· facilitate opportunities to engage and collaborate in the design of pilot elements

· coordinating the implementation of the pilot as designed working with stakeholders to overcome implementation barriers

· developing a sound understanding of the services and supports available in the local market to support young people and their families to access the most effective and culturally appropriate services available

· being a central point of contact for agencies and service providers managing incoming and outgoing referrals for young people in this cohort

· undertaking risk and vulnerability assessments to assist in prioritising referrals and service responses

· providing support for multiagency case management panels

· coordinating and ensuring collaboration between the agencies involved in the wraparound service solutions.

· In this role you are required to maintain confidentiality and support a culture of integrity.

Senior Policy and Projects Officer

Youth Justice NSW is seeking to appoint a temporary full-time Senior Policy and Project Officer within the Whole of Government Initiatives Team.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Plan, manage and implement research, innovation and evaluation projects as allocated by the Manager.
  • Facilitate opportunities to engage, collaborate and co-design place-based projects alongside young people, community members, government and non-government organisations.
  • Coordinate the implementation of the projects as designed working with these key stakeholders to overcome implementation barriers.
  • Maintain data which will assist the monitoring and evaluation of projects against Aboriginal Impact Statements, project plans and identified objectives.
  • Manage and oversee major aspects of project management and implementation, including monitoring project plans, coordinating resources, and managing budgets
  • Provide advice on youth justice interventions including detailed briefing notes, and correspondence.

What we're looking for

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as social work, law, psychology, sociology, criminology, project management or equivalent level experience
  • Current NSW Working with Children Check clearance
  • Willingness to undertake some state-wide travel for the Senior Policy and Projects Officer role
  • Willingness to work from Mascot Police Station 2 days per week for the Senior Policy and Projects Officer (Short-term Remand Program Coordinator)

  • National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
