Foodbank WA is looking for a Team Lead for their Peel branch. Team Lead is responsible for the day to day running of the Branch agency floor, it's chilled and fresh areas. This role also manages and supervises a team of volunteers and has accountability of the weighbridge.

This role supports welfare agencies and the local community through the procurement of, and provision of, quality food to improve the health and wellbeing of people in need.

Key responsibilities

Stock Management

  • Manages and executes the weighbridge, ensuring that all stock is appropriately weighed upon arrival at the Branch;
  • All stock upon its arrival at the Branch is unloaded, sorted, and located in the appropriate location;
  • All stock on the floor is fit for purpose and that date code rotation is managed appropriately;
  • Ensures that good quality stock is on the shelves and fresh stock is presented appropriately in all areas;
  • All stock replenishment and other housekeeping functions are completed prior to opening the Branch;
  • Assists with planning and scheduling of the production of hamper packs and bundles to ensure supply is maintained for Branches, hubs and mobile service; and
  • In the absence of the Branch Manager, liaises with suppliers to understand the local stock pipeline.

Supervision

  • Participates in the recruitment, induction and training of new volunteers ensuring individuals are appropriately selected and then supported;
  • Volunteers and employees understand their roles and are appropriately inducted and trained to perform their duties safely;
  • Develops and maintains work flows and rosters for volunteers; and
  • Manages and inducts corporate and public volunteers as necessary.

Other Duties

  • Follows opening and closing procedures, ensuring the building is safely locked and unlocked and secure;
  • Ensures alarms are set, fridges are checked, and all doors (including roller doors and emergency doors) are secure prior to leaving;
  • Develops and maintains a safe, constructive, and effective working environment; and
  • Fosters excellent and safe operating standards and role models this to others.

Essential Criteria:

  • Have a passion to make a difference in WA, within a Non-Profit Organisation;
  • Experience in wholesale operations;
  • Supervisory experience, preferably in a food or food related industry;
  • Experience in working in a highly responsive service culture business;
  • Ability to work in a pressured environment which is under resourced and continue to deliver results;
  • Knowledge of OH&S procedures, including COR;
  • Awareness of Foodsafe requirements;
  • Awareness of HACCP procedures;
  • Current and valid drivers licence;

Desirable Criteria:

  • Understanding of Non for profit organisations and Community based Human Services Provision;
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to a work force which is predominantly volunteer based;
  • Existing local and agency relationships;
  • An understanding of a Pl systems; and
  • Qualification in a community or related discipline.
  • Current High-Risk License (forklift)

  • Must be an Australian Citizen/ Permanent Resident
