About the role

Yarra Ranges Council is looking for an experienced Universal Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Nurse Team Leader to help deliver high-quality care to children within the municipality aged 0-6 years.

As the MCH Nurse Team Leader, you will oversee the Universal MCH Service, providing leadership, coaching, and support to MCH staff. You’ll play a key role in ensuring professional standards, compliance, and best practices are met while delivering client-focused, responsive care to families in the community.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality MCH services, supporting strategic planning and program development, including the Sleep and Settling program. You may step in for the MCH Coordinator when required, contributing to service improvement initiatives and broader MCH leadership responsibilities.

This is a part-time permanent position (4 days per week).

Hourly rate from $58.91 per hour, plus higher qualifications allowance and superannuation.

20 weeks paid primary caregiver leave (6 weeks for secondary caregivers) plus other generous leave options such as reproductive assistance and menstrual and menopause leave.

Experience and skills we’re looking for

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Experience and qualifications as a registered nurse (div 1) and registered midwife, and an accredited postgraduate degree/diploma in Maternal and Child Health.

Current registration with AHPRA.

Demonstrated experience in leading a nursing team including skills and experience in developing the capability of others and embedding a positive workplace culture.

Excellent clinical MCH skills, as well as outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work professionally and respectively with families from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, as well as agencies and health care providers.

Demonstrated understanding of Child and Family Violence Information Sharing Schemes and risk assessment frameworks.

Detailed knowledge of the MCH service guidelines and associated guiding documents.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Child Development Information Systems (CDIS).
