About Orange Sky
At Orange Sky we are on a mission to Positively Connect Communities and we do this by providing the world's-first free mobile laundry and shower service to people experiencing hardship. We offer a platform for everyday Australians & Kiwis to connect by creating a safe, positive and supportive environment for people who are too often ignored or who feel disconnected from the community.
The Role
The health, wellbeing and safety of our team is our number one priority and the purpose of this role is to ensure our health, safety and risk advice, support and resources are pragmatic, innovative, best practice and genuinely lived by the whole organisation. No day is ever the same, so the ideal applicant will be confident in a dynamic environment - we need someone who understands how to foster a risk aware culture where staff members are encouraged to adopt a positive and proactive approach to risk management.
In a nutshell, this role is responsible for:
Drive and champion a strong safety and wellbeing culture across employees and volunteers that aligns with our organisational values
Provide expert advice and mentoring to embed safety leadership, wellbeing training and engagement initiatives
Collaborate with teams, conduct regular visits to shifts and represent WHS internally and externally
Review, maintain and update policies, systems and tools, as well as governance and frameworks
Improve risk management techniques and implement controls for identified hazards
Hold key relationships with insurance brokers, managing insurance
Manage, understand and mitigate incidents within the organisation
Support and maintain Orange Sky's First Aid and facilities
Convinced this is the role for you? Tick some boxes!
We’re looking for someone with experience in a similar role. You’ll be cool and collected, bringing your solid stakeholder management skills to work autonomously in a super-fast paced environment. Orange Sky is a fun place, but also a serious business with lots of moving parts. You know how to have lots of balls in the air that can’t be dropped and think on the fly. You’re self-disciplined, can turn your hand to a variety of tasks, and you just get things done.
To be successful at Orange Sky, you need a genuine passion for our cause. We want likeminded, intrinsically motivated people who’re keen to jump on board and hit the ground running as well as:
3-5 years’ experience in WHS, risk management, or a related field, supported by relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. WHS, Risk, Occupational Health & Safety).
Demonstrated experience reviewing, implementing and maintaining WHS and risk management systems, policies and procedures.
Strong working knowledge of incident investigation, hazard identification, and risk assessment processes.
Experience designing and delivering WHS training and engagement initiatives, ideally in a dispersed workforce environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and build strong relationships across all levels.
Highly organised with strong project management skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities independently.
A proactive, adaptable and collaborative mindset, with a genuine passion for Orange Sky’s mission and values.
Not-for-profit sector experience is valued but not essential.
Benefits
At Orange Sky, we want every person to be "Better for Being Orange". That is every one of our volunteers, friends, and supporters, all while working together towards delivering our mission of "Positively Connecting Communities". You not only get to work with an outstanding bunch of high-performing people, but you're supported to continue your own personal growth and development in an inclusive and flexible environment, with benefits including:
