Historic Australia is searching for several vibrant Tour Guides to join their team and to be a part of showcasing Brisbane and Ipswich’s haunted and criminal history.

Historic Australia showcases some of the nation’s most historic sites through the ancient art of storytelling. Jack Sim, director of HA, and the team have been running both crime and ghost tours in Brisbane & Ipswich since 1998, and have since expanded throughout Queensland.

The Tour Guide’s responsibilities will include providing exceptional experiences to small and large groups through storytelling and guiding guests around various sites. We require people with a genuine passion for Australian history, and a desire to share this with locals and visitors.

The duties of a TOUR GUIDE for Historic Australia:

Responsibility for undertaking guided tours through historic sites / places

Marketing and promotional activities – including taking tour group photographs, distributing flyers, gathering feedback

Use our tour booking management system (currently Fareharbor) to record visitors attendance and other information as required.

Applicants must have/be:

Able to memorise and recite from a written script, without variation, not improvisation. You cannot read from a script.

Be able to commence training as soon as possible

Be able to work Friday and Saturday nights between the hours of 5pm to 10pm.

Demonstrate excellent storytelling skills, including memorising multiple scripts and delivering the information in an entertaining and interesting way without variation of information

Be able to project your voice and speak clearly

Be able to manage small and large groups

Have excellent interpersonal skills, be reliable, punctual, and professional at all times

Be able to commit to set hours for months in advance and work on a rostered basis

Uphold the company’s policies and advocate for the company’s values

Work Requirements
Employees are expected to be available for work on certain specific dates of the year, as well as dates prior to and after. These dates are:

Friday the 13th's

Halloween (31/10 as well as nights before/ weekend prior to),

Any other relevant historic anniversaries

These dates are mandatory and guides must commit to them.
