Hot Air Balloon Cairns is the region's exclusive operator of hot air balloon flights and provides excellence in delivery of a unique, "bucket list" hot air ballooning experience. About the role

Our driving team provides transfers from Cairns, the Northern Beaches and Port Douglas, to our launch sites around the Mareeba area. You will be the first face of the company as you meet and greet excited guests who are looking forward to their hot air balloon flight.

With a high level of initiative, you'll work independently to collect your passengers, and converge on the launch site where the team will meet. Around the balloons you'll work as part of an efficient, safety conscious team to prepare for take off.

Once the balloons are airborne, follow your ground crew to the landing site, and assist in disembarking guests, packing the balloon away, and eventually delivering your passengers to their on-going destinations.

As this is a casual position within an industry dependant on tourist seasons and numbers, it is recommended that applicants have alternative streams of income.

We particularly value team members with Japanese language skills, as a large number of our guests are from Japan and appreciate communication in their native language.

You’ll need to be a reliable early riser, enjoy working outdoors, and be happy to get hands-on as part of a supportive, energetic team.

Qualifications & experience

Mandatory - Open Driver Licence - minimum LR

Queensland Driver Authorisation (DA) - (or meet the requirements and be willing to obtain one)

Mandatory - Excellence in customer service

Mandatory - Exceptional communication skills

Mandatory - Proven reliability and punctuality, with the ability to adhere to early morning start times as critical to our operations.

Advantage - Japanese language skills (spoken) are highly desirable, due to the high number of Japanese-speaking guests we welcome.

Tourism experience is favourable, but not essential

Tasks & responsibilities

Greeting guests at local Cairns and Northern Beaches accommodation.

Driving LR buses from 13 seats through to 24 seats.

Providing safety briefings and leading customers throughout their ballooning experience.

Coordinating with other drivers and team members to achieve delivery of hot air balloon experience in a dynamic environment.

Following instructions from pilots and ground crew.

Assisting with balloon setup and pack down – this includes physical lifting and outdoor teamwork.

Wash and clean buses upon completion of shift.
