ABOUT THE ROLES
The Family Support Network (FSN) Support Worker plays a vital role in delivering practical, relationship-based support to families, children, and young people engaged with the FSN. Working under the guidance of Case Workers and Coordinators, the Support Worker focuses on implementing day-to-day strategies that promote safety, wellbeing, and resilience in families.
This position is grounded in a strengths-based, culturally respectful approach that recognises and builds on the existing capacities of families. Support Workers are often the consistent connection point for the family, offering encouragement, modelling positive behaviours, and reinforcing key messages and goals developed in collaboration with Case Workers.
About FSN:
Wungening leads the Armadale Cannington Family Support Network. Family Support Networks (FSNs) are a partnership of community sector services and the Department of Communities (Communities), providing a common entry point to services and delivering targeted support to families facing challenging situations and those most likely to be involved with the child protection system.
Responsibilities Overview:
Support service delivery by working collaboratively with Case Workers and Coordinators to implement practical aspects of family support plans in homes and community settings.
Assist with intake support by gathering basic client information and helping families understand the service process (under the direction of Case Workers).
Support in-home visits and outreach by accompanying Case Workers, assisting with logistics, and delivering practical and emotional support to families as directed in support plans.
Contribute to risk assessment and safety planning and implement agreed safety strategies under supervision.
Work alongside FSN and external partners by helping families attend appointments, make phone calls, and understand service options identified by Case Workers.
Provide hands-on support to families during challenging times by helping with routines, home organisation, parenting strategies, and daily life skills, in line with the family's support plan.
Support continuous improvement by providing feedback on family engagement and practical barriers during team discussions and reflective practice sessions.
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records in the client management system (FUSION) and other systems, including detailed case notes, assessments, plans, and correspondence.
Ensure all practices align with Wungening’s values, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
