About the role
The Governance & Executive Support Officer is a critical role that provides high-level administrative and executive support to the Shire of Morawa. As a key member of the leadership team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the executive office, ensuring seamless support for the Shire President, Chief Executive Officer and elected members. This is a full-time position based in Morawa, Western Australia.
What you'll be doing
Act as the first point of contact for enquiries and visitors to the executive office.
Provide assistance to Executive Managers where required.
Provide executive-level administrative support, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, CEO briefing Forums and taking minutes.
Integrated Planning and Reporting, including downloading of monthly reports for council meetings.
Liaising with Elected Members on matters including correspondence, meetings and training.
Assist with the preparation of reports, presentations and correspondence on behalf of the Shire President and CEO.
Support the Shire's governance processes, including Council and committee meetings.
Maintain and update the Shire's policy and procedure manuals and other corporate records.
Administer and assist managers with annual performance reviews – set up templates, schedule reviews, track completion rates, accurate filing.
Oversee all aspects of the recruitment and onboarding processes – including but not limited to positions descriptions, advertising, liaising with candidates and new employees, assist with interviewing where required, keep accurate records of all data throughout these processes.
Participates in performance management processes, induction, recruitment, review and succession planning.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the implementation of new systems and processes.
Promote, maintain and improve the working environment and practices to ensure compliance with Industrial Awards, Occupational Safety and Health, EEO legislation and Council’s Policies and Procedures.
Drafting of letters and reports for CEO, including letters of employment and response to correspondence.
Responsible for reviewing general training needs of the organisation – create and maintain training registers, monitor expiry of training/licenses, arrange training as required and directed.
Complying with WHS legislation, workplace procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and risk control, including identification and reporting of health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries, property damage and mishaps at the workplace.

What we're looking for
Essential:

Advanced computer skills, proficient in using Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn new systems and technologies.
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and multitask.
A collaborative approach and the ability to work autonomously when required.
Desirable:
Administration qualifications or minimum 2 years’ experience in a governance or administrative position.
Previous Local Government experience.
Experience with Synergy Soft/IT Vision software.
Project administration skills.

A total remuneration package up to $99,617 per annum inclusive of superannuation, subsidised Shire housing and utilities allowance. This represents a cash component of $65,682 to $76,925 per annum dependent on candidate experience.
