- Working 22.8 hours per week (flexible to work across 3 to 5 days)
- Commencing at Band 5 $41.81 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation (commensurate with skills and experience)
The Opportunity
Moonee Valley City Council is seeking a proactive and experienced Site Emergency Management Officer to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of emergency management plans across council-operated facilities.
This hands-on role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by ensuring that our facilities are well-prepared for emergency situations, staff are trained and supported, and our procedures meet the highest standards.
You will play a vital role in maintaining a culture of safety and readiness while acting as Chief Warden at the Civic Centre and supporting a network of wardens and first aiders across Council sites.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and test tailored Site Emergency Management Plans (SEMPs).
- Act as Chief Warden for the Civic Centre and coordinate emergency responses.
- Lead training and drills for wardens and site personnel.
- Liaise with internal teams and emergency services to ensure coordinated responses.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation (including AS 3745 and OH&S Act).
- Maintain Council's emergency equipment and documentation.
- Chair emergency forums and contribute to business continuity initiatives.
About You
- A qualification or extensive experience in emergency management, public safety, or business continuity.
- Strong working knowledge of emergency planning legislation and risk management principles.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to influence, train, and lead.
- Demonstrated experience acting as a Chief or Deputy Warden (or willingness to undertake training).
- A current Victorian Driver Licence and the ability to work flexibly, including outside normal business hours when required.
