A well-established and expanding manufacturing company based in Albury-Wodonga is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead its workshop operations. Specialising in custom steel fabrications for clients across New South Wales and Victoria, this is a senior leadership opportunity suited to an individual with a strong background in fabrication and team management.

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager, the Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing the entire manufacturing process, leading a workforce of approximately 55 skilled tradespeople. This role plays a key part in ensuring production efficiency, meeting project timelines, and upholding quality and safety standards.

You will collaborate closely with internal project teams and champion continuous improvement initiatives to drive performance and output within the workshop.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day operations of the workshop to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality steel fabrications

Uphold welding and fabrication standards, ensuring compliance with project specifications

Lead and supervise a diverse team including tradespeople, apprentices, machine operators, trade assistants, and yard personnel

Drive improvements in manufacturing processes, workflow, and efficiency

Develop and manage production schedules and workforce rosters

Foster a culture of safety and ensure adherence to workplace health and safety policies

Required Skills & Experience

Proven background in steel fabrication, with hands-on workshop leadership experience (essential)

Trade qualifications in boiler making, metal fabrication, or mechanical engineering

Strong people management and leadership capabilities

Working knowledge of production planning, quality control, and workshop operations

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Welding Supervisor certification (advantageous) or willingness to complete the qualification
