As a Manufacturing Technician, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of our manufacturing facility. Your responsibilities will include:
Machine Operation: Set up and operate CNC machines and robotic systems for both manual and automated fabrication, including laser, press brake, and spot-welding machinery.
Programming and Configuration: Program and configure CNC machines, robotic systems, and other automation equipment for optimized sheet metal processes.
Quality Assurance: Monitor production processes, conduct quality checks, and troubleshoot issues to ensure standards are met.
Material Utilisation: Maximise material utilisation and minimise waste through advanced tool path and nesting strategies.
Maintenance and Calibration: Perform routine maintenance and calibration tasks to ensure optimal performance of production equipment.
Production Scheduling: Develop and maintain production schedules to ensure efficient resource allocation and timely delivery.
Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, designers, and clients to create detailed sheet metal designs using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks).
Documentation: Generate 3D models, technical drawings, and production plans optimised for efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Maintain accurate records of production activities, including machine settings, production output, and any deviations from standard procedures.
Data Analysis: Analyse data to identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce bottlenecks. Leverage analytics and machine learning tools to optimize machine performance and minimise downtime.
Reporting: Prepare performance reports and documentation as needed.
Process Improvement: Contribute to initiatives that improve processes, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency.
Standard Operating Procedures: Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and performance metrics.
Training and Development: Participate in training programs to enhance skills and stay updated on new production processes and technologies.
Skills & Experience
Tertiary/Advanced Trade education in or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering
Minimum 3 years experience in sheet metal fabrication, designing, CNC programming, and operations. Experience with Industry 4.0 technologies, such as IoT, data analytics, and automation, is highly desirable.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for 3D modelling and technical drawings. Strong programming skills in CNC software (e.g., Bystronics Bysoft). Familiarity with smart factory technologies and software platforms (e.g., MES, ERP).
In-depth understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, including cutting, bending, forming and welding. Familiarity with Industry 4.0 concepts, such as digital twins, predictive maintenance, and data-driven decision-making.
