Role summary
As a Cosmetic Compounding Chemist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all finished products meet CPR’s stringent quality standards and exceed customer expectations. You will adhere to established processes for the preparation, mixing, and processing of raw materials, working closely with our dynamic team to maintain excellence in every batch.
Key Responsibilities
Batch Processing and Mixing
- Dispense, weigh, blend, and process raw materials according to established formulas and instructions.
- Operate machinery, including mixers, homogenizers, pumps, and other processing equipment.
- Perform necessary heating and cooling processes.
- Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, and production areas to maintain hygiene standards.
- Prepare workstations, ensuring the availability of water and other required materials for batching.
Quality Control
- Adhere to batch formulations and established processes.
- Conduct basic quality control checks such as pH, specific gravity, and viscosity to ensure product specifications.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborate with the Quality Control (QC) team to verify batch consistency and quality.
- Maintain accurate records of batch details and any deviations.
Workplace Health & Safety
- Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow workplace health and safety protocols to minimize risks.
- Understand and respond to Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and manage spill hazards effectively.
Operational Support
- Pick raw materials, maintain inventory levels, assist in stock-taking, and ensure correct labelling and storage of materials.
- Support team members to achieve production objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Tertiary qualifications in science or a related field are advantageous.
- Experience: Prior experience in batch manufacturing, preferably in the personal care or food industries.
- Additional: Forklift license is favourable.
