Intake Assessment Officer - headspace Indooroopilly
headspace is Australia's National Youth Mental Health Foundation. Our mission is to deliver improvements in the mental health, social wellbeing, and economic participation of young people aged 12 to 25 years.
The opportunity:
We are looking for a part-time Intake & Assessment Officer to join our Indooroopilly Centre, working approximately 23 hours per week over three full days (days are flexible). This role will be part of an established and welcoming multidisciplinary team, with the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people.
As one of the first contact points for young people accessing the headspace centre, you will play a crucial role in building positive relationships with young people, their families, and other stakeholders. You will need to be approachable and skilled at fostering connections, while also being able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

About you:
We are seeking a welcoming, professional, and committed individual with the following attributes:
- You have tertiary-level qualifications in psychology, social work, health, behavioural or social sciences, community services, or a related discipline that provides a strong understanding of assessing and working with young people experiencing mental health challenges.
- You have experience working with young people, demonstrating an ability to build rapport and maintain strong relationships with both young clients and stakeholders.
- You possess a strong understanding of mental health, including evidence-based interventions and clinical practices.
- You are skilled in undertaking intake and screening activities, including conducting comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments.
- You have experience conducting risk assessments, including assessing the risk of suicide or other forms of harm, and developing action plans to address these risks.
