Women’s Health and Equality Queensland (WHEQ) are leaders in women’s health, gender equality, and the primary prevention of violence. We are a not-for-profit organisation that has been improving health outcomes for women for over 40 years. Our head office is located on unceded Jagera and Turrbal Land in South Brisbane, with many of our services spanning across the entire state.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This casual position is the first point of contact for people accessing WHEQ’s services, providing intake support across the Healing and Recovery team and the 1800 4WOMEN phone line. The role involves intake assessment, brief counselling, and warm referrals, ensuring participants receive timely and high-quality support.

As an Intake Officer (Casual), you will:

Provide trauma-informed support: Deliver brief, client-centred therapeutic support and manage intake, triage, and referrals across phone, in-person and digital channels.

Support access and flow: Maintain waitlists, manage appointment scheduling, and ensure smooth, welcoming service access for new and returning clients.

Contribute to team effectiveness: Enable the broader team to engage in culture-building, planning and events by providing coverage across rostered shifts.

Enhance service quality: Contribute to group programs, evaluation, and quality improvement through front-line insights and strong administrative practices.

This is a casual role based in South Brisbane. A minimum of two shifts per week is guaranteed, with availability required across a 7:45am–8:15pm schedule.

You are a warm and capable frontline practitioner who brings calm, clarity, and connection to every client interaction.

Trauma-informed and responsive: You understand the impacts of domestic, family, and sexual violence and provide care that centres safety, trust and empowerment.

Organised and reliable: You manage competing priorities with care and professionalism and bring attention to detail in every part of your work.

Supportive and collaborative: You work well in a team environment, supporting both participants and colleagues to achieve shared outcomes.

Experienced and knowledgeable: You have relevant qualifications, frontline experience, and an understanding of service systems and referral pathways.

Competitive pay: SCHADS Level 4 Casual ($43.71–$45.60 per hour depending on experience), with the option to salary package up to $15,900 annually to increase your take-home pay.
