We are seeking a Home Care Assistant (Disability) for a Teen girl with Cerebral Palsy who has High Personal, Social and Care Needs.
The position is a Traineeship in conjunction with Wodonga TAFE. The TAFE will work with you and the team to enable you to complete a Certificate lll in Individual Support. This certificate is going to be a requirement for those working within the NDIS. Information about the course can be found at Certificate III in Individual Support - Wodonga TAFE

Yackandandah is a small historic town in N.E Victoria. It is 20 minutes from Beechworth, 30 minutes from Myrtleford and 30 minutes from Albury/Wodonga.
The position
This is a full time paid permanent position of 38 hours per week or 76 hours per fortnight. The hours include an average of three (3) hours per week, for which you are paid, studying for the Certificate lll in Individual Support which generally takes 12 months.
Working hours are worked in shifts as negotiated. Shifts can be between 2 and 8 hours in length and are generally allocated between the hours of 6am and 8pm. After hours and weekend shifts are paid higher penalty rates.
Responsibilities:
As a Home Care Assistant (Disability) you will assist in providing support for all aspects of daily living. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing an understanding of and using alternative means to facilitate effective non-verbal communication.
- Assisting Senior Disability Support Workers in providing comprehensive care for daily life including personal, social, and related care needs.
- Fostering a positive and engaging environment by incorporating creativity and fun into daily interactions.
- Collaborating with Meg, her support team, family, and healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care.
- Embracing a learning mindset and adapting to the evolving needs of the teen.
- Fostering a positive and respectful working relationship with family and team members.
Requirements:
- No prior experience is required – a positive, can-do attitude and a sincere willingness to learn are essential.
- Compliance with all NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework is expected.
- Personal mobile phone use is not permitted during shifts.
- willingness to adapt to non-verbal communication.
- A level of fitness and strength to be able to assist in carrying out hoist assisted and manual handling.
- WWCC, NDIS Worker Screening Check, Current Drivers Licence, First aid level 2 & CPR certificates.

- Salary starts at SCHADS Home Care Level 1 $25.17 per hour which is above traineeship level. A higher rate will be paid depending on any work experience you have in the disability area.
- 10 days personal/carers leave, 4 weeks annual leave, or 5 weeks if classified as a shift worker under SCHADS. Additional leave and other entitlements under the National Employment Standard (NES).
