About You:
We are seeking experienced people who are committed to delivering quality care to people with a disability. You will need to be passionate about providing a supportive home environment and be a capable motivated self-starter with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
Additionally, the successful candidate must also be able to demonstrate the following,
Experience in caring for people with psycho-social or intellectual disabilities and the ability to oversee the general day to day tasks of disability support care, such as assistance with ADL’s, cooking and medication administration;
The ability to comply consistently with policies and procedures, and work health and safety obligations and procedures;
The ability to work positively with others in a team environment;
excellent interpersonal skills including well-developed written and verbal communication skills, conflict resolution, negotiation, and problem-solving;
An empathic approach to service delivery, with a flexible and adaptable style, a sense of humour, and keen attention to detail.
About the Role:
This role is based at our Highton residence and includes morning, afternoon, night shift (active) & weekend shifts on a rotating fortnightly roster. Active night shift hours will be required to assist with leave coverage. This position is full time with the opportunity for overtime shifts.
Disability Support Worker also have access to See Change’s 24 hour on call Duty Registered Nurse. The on call Registered Nurses are familiar with all See Change clients and will be able to offer meaningful support.
Duties Include:
Duties include but are not limited to:
Medication administration
Support with domestic activities
Assistance with activities of daily living
Assist with skill building and independence of participants.
Implementation of participant’s care plan
Accurate completion of incident reports, progress notes and shift handovers where required.
Respond appropriately to people presenting with difficult and challenging behaviours; managing crises and incidents.
Essential Criteria:
Minimum Certificate III Disability Support Services
First aid (Level 3) & CPR
Medication Administration (Certification/Endorsement)
NDIS Worker Screening Check
Minimum 12 months experience - direct support or lived experience
Current Victorian Drivers License & reliable transport [preferred]
Screening Criteria:
National Police check
Working with Children check or ability to obtain
Valid Victorian Drivers license
Right to Work in Australia
Up to date with COVID-19 Vaccinations or valid medical exemption
