About FHMRI Sleep Health

FHMRI Sleep Health conducts world-leading transdisciplinary research to advance knowledge of sleep, sleep disorders and develop new treatments to improve sleep and is situated within the College of Medicine and Public Health. It also provides a sleep disorders clinical service with a primarily focus on treatment for Insomnia and sleep disordered breathing.

About the Role
Working under the guidance of the Chief Investigator, the Research Associate will contribute independently to an NHMRC Ideas Grant project titled 'Impact and mechanisms of night-to-night variability in sleep apnoea severity on health and treatment outcomes'.

In this role, you will support the delivery of key components of the project, including a lab-based multi-night OSA endotyping study and a 7-night optimal CPAP intervention. Your responsibilities will span project coordination, preparation of ethics applications, data collection and analysis, engagement with medical professionals, and preparation of reports and research publications. You may also contribute to related research programs as required.

About You
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • A PhD in sleep physiology and/or respiratory physiology, or substantial progress toward completion of a PhD in a related field, with demonstrated laboratory and/or clinical experience.
  • An emerging track record of research excellence in sleep health, with achievements that are strong and appropriate relative to career stage and opportunity.
  • Evidence of growing research experience, including peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and/or international conferences in a relevant discipline.
  • Proven ability to critically evaluate existing literature and apply quantitative research and analytical methodologies within the field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, stakeholders, and industry partners.
