Established in 1999, the Western Australian Speedway Commission (“WASC”) is a non-profit sporting association appointed as the governing body for speedway in Western Australia. The Commission is a democratically formed body, comprised of a Board and Advisory Committees. Supported the Department of Sport and Recreation, the Commissions Core Purpose is to deliver safety, education and training in speedway across Western Australia.
Reporting to the WASC Commissioners, three elected and four independent, the General Manager is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the Commission and liaising with all affiliated stakeholders. The General Manager is also tasked with identifying marketing opportunities to increase the revenue of the WASC.
Activity
Build an efficient and effective WASC that delivers training and promotes safety within speedway in Western Australia.
Manage finances effectively to ensure:
money is allocated accordingly
expenditure matches available funds
transparency and reporting in line with applicable financial standards
Build strong relationships with stakeholder groups and develop cooperation between the groups:
Within the sport
All tracks within WA
All divisions of speedway within Western Australia
External

Work with the Board of Commissioners to update and implement a 5 year strategy that builds the sport in line expectations. Provide quarterly updates to members (via a newsletter) and present a detailed report at the AGM. Identify, develop and implement ideas that grow and promote the safety of the sport.
Develop a marketing and sponsorship plan to present to the Commissioners for approval prior to implementation.
Provide regular, open communication to the members to build trust and grow a sense of community where members feel engaged.
Coordinate Safety and Training Committee meetings and report back to the Commissioners.
Build and maintain policies and processes that ensure consistency across the sport; optimise the use of resources.
Manage the training schedule and accreditation of officials within Western Australia.
Manage the website and social media to ensure the following:
All event and track information is up to date
All training material is available
All correspondence (e.g. newsletter) is available
Notice and minutes of meeting is available in a timely fashion
Develop and maintain a risk management process that ensures the critical risks are identified, monitored and managed.
Arrange monthly Board meetings and quarterly Audit and Risk Committee meetings ensuring the following:
Agenda is issued at least two weeks prior to the meeting
Relevant information, financial and other reports and available at least one week prior to the meeting
Meeting minutes are issued within 48 hours of the meeting
