About the position:

The Collections and Heritage Assistant works within a small team that manages the preservation and use of the Antiques, Artworks and Artefacts collections at NSW Parliament. In this role, you will provide practical support, administrative assistance, and research insights to both the supervisor and wider team. You will play a key role in the physical management of the collection, while also keeping our data accurate and up to date—tracking the receipt, placement, and disposal of items.

Based in NSW Parliament, the Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is a specialist service department working to support the operation of the Parliament of NSW by providing logistical support and advice to members, the Departments of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly and the people of New South Wales. Our office is found close to public transport in the heart of Macquarie Street CBD, next to the State Library and Sydney’s Botanic Gardens.

About you:

This is a newly created role within the team, working with the senior advisor to support best practice preservation and use of the Antiques, Artworks and Artefacts of the NSW Parliament Collection. You will need an attention to detail and experience with collections management databases, digital asset management for cataloguing and record keeping, and knowledge of valuation and stewardship of works of art.
