As part of the Governance and Corporate Strategy Business Unit, you'll be joining a team that values continuous improvement and strategic thinking.

Your new role

As the Project Manager, Service Review, you will be at the forefront of a strategic initiative to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and responsiveness of Council services. This is a newly created, project-based role designed to support the delivery of a comprehensive service review program across a wide range of operational areas.

You will coordinate and support up to five concurrent service reviews over a 12-month period. These reviews will span diverse service areas such as community programs, tree management, stormwater drainage, and other essential community-facing operations. While the review work itself will be conducted by external consultants, your role will be to ensure these projects are scoped, resourced, and delivered effectively, with minimal disruption to business operations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Project Scoping and Planning: Work with your manager to define project objectives, develop detailed briefs, and establish timelines and deliverables.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Design and implement engagement strategies, facilitate workshops, and coordinate consultations with internal teams and community stakeholders.
  • Data Coordination and Analysis: Source and prepare data for consultants, review reports, and ensure data integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Policy and Documentation Development: Draft and refine service review guidelines, policy documents, and procedural templates to support a consistent approach.
  • Project Coordination: Oversee multiple projects at varying stages, provide regular updates, manage risks, and ensure alignment with Council priorities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for service enhancements and support implementation of approved recommendations.
  • Hands-On Support: Assist with setting up workshops, preparing presentations, troubleshooting issues, and supporting change initiatives.
  • This is a dynamic and hands-on role that requires adaptability, initiative, and strong communication skills. You'll be instrumental in shaping how Council services are delivered to the community.

What you'll need to succeed

To thrive in this role, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in project coordination, business improvement, or program management-ideally within local or state government.
  • Strong skills in business process mapping, stakeholder engagement, and policy development.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports and documentation.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in business or public administration, with additional training in project management or Lean/Six Sigma methodologies highly regarded.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
