Due to ongoing growth and a strong pipeline of infrastructure projects across Australia, our client is seeking an experienced Project Cost Controller to join their dynamic team on a contract basis. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a solid background in construction cost management and project controls.

As a Construction Project Cost Controller, you will play a key role in monitoring and managing project costs, ensuring financial controls are maintained across multiple complex infrastructure projects. Working closely with Project Managers, Estimators, and Finance teams, you will help deliver projects on time and within budget, contributing directly to the successful execution of high-value construction and infrastructure works.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and track project budgets, forecasts, and cost control measures for multiple construction projects.
  • Monitor and report on project cost performance, including CPI and SPI analysis, ensuring project stays within financial targets.
  • Assist with subcontractor claims, client invoicing, and procurement processes to ensure timely payments and cost recovery.
  • Support project tendering and cost estimation activities for upcoming projects.
  • Manage scope variations, track their financial impacts, and ensure proper change management procedures.
  • Prepare and analyse detailed cost reports for internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Maintain detailed project cost and schedule integration, ensuring alignment with project progress.
  • Support project risk management by identifying cost overruns or issues early.

About You:

  • Experience in construction project controls, cost management.
  • Strong background in engineering, construction, infrastructure, or heavy industry sectors.
  • Practical knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) and other project control methodologies.
  • Proficiency in project scheduling software such as MS Project, and cost management systems.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Business, Finance, or related disciplines.
  • Proven ability to manage project costs on large-scale infrastructure projects, with experience in schedule of rates.
  • Hands-on experience with site-based project controls and cost management.
