The Opportunity:

We seek an Engineering Technologist to lead the design, optimization, and innovation of forklift systems, ensuring alignment with BudgetForks’ dual goals of operational excellence and sustainability. This role will drive projects ranging from emission reduction in diesel forklifts to developing smart, electric-powered solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Forklift System Innovation:

o Design and optimize hydraulic/pneumatic systems, electric drivetrains, and IoT-enabled components for forklifts.

o Lead retrofitting projects (e.g., converting diesel forklifts to lithium-ion battery systems) to reduce carbon footprints.

2. Maintenance & Reliability Engineering:

o Develop predictive maintenance protocols to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.

o Resolve complex technical issues (e.g., hydraulic leaks, brake system failures) reported through BudgetForks’ servicing network.

3. Sustainability & Compliance:

o Reduce emissions in diesel forklifts (e.g., NOx/CO2) through engine retrofits or hybrid solutions.

o Ensure compliance with Australian safety standards (AS 2359) and environmental regulations.

4. Client Collaboration:

o Partner with manufacturing, logistics, and warehousing clients to tailor forklift solutions.

o Translate client needs into technical specifications (e.g., high-capacity lifting attachments).

5. IP Development:

o File patents for novel forklift technologies (e.g., energy recovery systems, smart load sensors).

Essential Criteria:

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.

· Certification as an Engineering Technologist (e.g., Engineers Australia).

· 5+ years in mechanical systems design, preferably in material handling, automotive, or industrial equipment.

· Proven expertise in:

o Hydraulic/pneumatic systems (e.g., forklift lifting mechanisms).

o Emission control (e.g., NOx reduction, fuel efficiency improvements).

o Managing OEM/client projects with measurable ROI (e.g., cost savings, efficiency gains).

· Proficiency in 3D/CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and Six Sigma/Lean methodologies.

Desirable Skills:

· Experience with electric forklift systems (battery tech, motor controllers).

· Knowledge of IoT/diagnostics tools for predictive maintenance.

· Track record of patents (e.g., mechanical systems, energy recovery).
