The Opportunity
Our client is a well-known ASX-listed business with large spend on technology projects, 30+ at any one time. This newly created role reports to the CIO with a dotted line to the CFO. It’s a unique opportunity to partner closely with senior leadership to define, manage, and communicate the financial story of Technology.
You will act as a trusted commercial advisor, bridging the gap between Technology and Finance, designing and embedding cost models, improving financial processes, and shaping how investment decisions are made across a large-scale, tech-enabled environment.
The role will commence as an initial 12-month fixed term contact, with potential for extension thereafter.
The Challenge
Reporting to the CIO, your key responsibilities will include:
- Redesigning and implementing finance processes including asset treatment, capitalisation and service cost recognition
- Developing and managing new costing methodologies to ensure alignment with operational and project objectives
- Establishing processes to optimise workforce planning and associated budgeting
- Designing and delivering technology cost benchmarks (e.g. cost-to-serve) to monitor spend and identify optimisation opportunities
- Integrating agile delivery practices into financial planning and investment frameworks
- Partnering with stakeholders across Technology and Finance to embed best practices
- Supporting and guiding executive reporting, investment planning and board-level decision-making
The Expertise
Please consider applying for this position if you meet the following criteria:
- 10+ years’ experience in finance and technology leadership roles
- Proven track record in technology finance transformation, cost optimisation and investment governance
- Experience in large-scale digital or enterprise technology environments
- Familiarity with industry benchmarks and frameworks (e.g. TBM, Hackett, Gartner)
- Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence at ELT level
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business; TBM certification desirable
- Consulting experience or prior experience reporting to a CIO, very highly valued
