This Engineering Technical Officer role will require you to provide accurate technical advice to the community, whilst contributing to temporary construction traffic management, supporting City of Fremantle’s Infrastructure Projects team and City Officers. You will need to apply relevant administrative and compliance processes relating to construction activities through enforcement of the Local Laws within the Road Reserve.
The role provides an essential liaison point for all key stakeholders of the City: Residents, Builder’s Developers and Public Utility companies that will require approval for any works undertaken within the Road Reserve. You will also undertake inspections and evaluations of these works.
Key responsibilities include:
• Review temporary construction traffic management plans and requests for road closures.
• Issue approval for the release of bonds and work permits.
• Seek to minimise impact to the community and existing infrastructure.
• Provide expert technical advice.
• Carry out inspections with regards to damage and quality.
• Team work to resolve problems.
• Apply applicable codes of practice, statutory laws, and City of Fremantle policies.
The ideal candidate will preferably possess a technical diploma (in Civil Engineering) and /or have significant work experience in a similar position. In order to succeed in this role, you will have highly developed communication skills, organisational ability and exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills. You will be a problem-solver and be able to demonstrate significant consultation and negotiation skills. We are looking for someone who is driven to go above and beyond for our customers.
