About the Position
The Engineering Technical Officer - Engineering Design has a pivotal role in supporting the Engineering Services team in achieving the City's operational objectives, performance improvements, project delivery, and cultural enhancements. This position will provide civil engineering design and technical support to the Civil Design Coordinator, including but not limited to:
- Undertaking engineering design as well as managing design input data programs for an assortment of capital and operational engineering works.
- Creating parking and minor engineering works plans relating to the improvement or upgrade of the City's roads, drainage systems, car parks and cycle paths, or landscape drafting for the Programs Delivery business unit.
- Investigating traffic, parking, cycling, pedestrian and street lighting issues.
- Preparing of cost estimates for design projects.
- Providing advice in relation to traffic, bicycle, pedestrian, car parking and street lighting to both internal and external customers.
- Procurement tasks in relation to surveying and data services.
To be successful in this position you will need to demonstrate:
- Enrolment or completion of a Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent, or qualifications in AutoCAD Civil 3D with extensive design experience.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management skills and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of civil design packages such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D drafting software.
- Previous experience in road and drainage design in an urban environment.
- Working knowledge of technical standards and specifications relating to roads, footpath, and drainage design.
