About Centrecare

The Role
Provide basic counselling, mentoring and support to young people, particularly young male adolescents (aged between 12 – 18 years) and their families who are at high risk and presenting complex. These young people and members of their families are participating in the Intensive Support Service for Young People that operates in the North Western Metropolitan region of Perth.
A Few Specifics:
- In consultation with the Team Leader and Program Manager Joondalup, implement a case management approach to service delivery including strengths-based needs assessment.
- Assisting young people and their families to increase opportunity for improved family relationships including extended family.
- Assist young people to develop a positive attachment to their identified community.
- Assisting young people at risk to increase positive life skills.
- Assist young people to develop strategies to enhance their self-esteem.

Selection Criteria
- Tertiary level qualifications in Community Development, Social Work, Social Sciences, Youth Work or related disciplines.
- Minimum 2 years relevant experience in the area of general counselling, family support and/or youth counselling.
- Experience in outreach work in community settings i.e. parks and shops, home settings, detention centers and at other agency locations.
- Current National Police Clearance (within 12 months validity).
- Valid driver's license and own vehicle, willingness to use tour vehicle for outreach work.
- Ability to work across diverse cultures.
