We believe that all young people matter, regardless of the circumstances they find themselves in. We empower young people to take control of their future by offering them the holistic support and opportunities they need to thrive.
Our schools are designed to re-engage and support students who have had difficulty attending mainstream education. Our goal is to ensure that students achieve relevant education certificates and possess the personal and social skills required to progress, be that TAFE, employment, training or an apprenticeship.
The Role
We are seeking a full-time Youth Worker to support and engage with young people attending our Youth Futures Community School in Caversham.
The successful candidate will also assist and guide their colleagues to ensure we are providing appropriate services to young people who have experienced adversity and may have a range of personal challenges that require additional support.
The successful candidates will be experienced in working with young people who have been unable to succeed at and have disengaged from mainstream education. You will be passionate about re-engaging these students through the fostering of positive and professional relationships. You will provide case management and support to young people who are experiencing multiple barriers to engaging in education and support services.
You will be flexible and adaptive in response to the diverse challenges of working with at-risk young people in an educational setting, ensuring your practice is consistent with cultural, gender, developmental and other individual needs. You will be comfortable working one-on-one with young people as well as being able to facilitate group activities and skill development sessions.
We are looking for someone who:
Work effectively as an individual and as a member of a team who operate within a multidisciplinary framework.
Are able to establish and develop professional relationships that support families and assist student academic and personal achievement.
Are comfortable working with young people experiencing challenges such as mental health, drug and alcohol and behavioural difficulties.
Possess high level written and interpersonal skills and are competent in using Microsoft and other computer programs.
Are able to work in partnership with other support agencies as well as District Education Offices.
Are willing to assist students to transition beyond School into TAFE, employment, training or apprenticeships.
Have the capability to identify appropriate culturally responsive referral pathways for young people, particularly related to employment, education and training.
Prior knowledge of education, training pathways, minimum school leaving requirements and alternative education programs is desirable.
Essential Qualifications
Youth Work, Social Work or an appropriate University Level Community Services qualification OR Diploma Level Youth Work with extensive experience.
First Aid and CPR Certified.
Valid National Police Clearance.
Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) via Department of Education
Valid Working with Children's Check.
Current 'C' class WA driver's licence

Work Conditions
Monday - Friday
8am - 4pm
4 weeks annual leave (Leave to be taken during school holidays)

Additional benefits
In addition to your remuneration, you will enjoy generous salary packaging benefits where you can package up to $15,900 for general living expenses and an additional $2,650 for entertainment benefits per annum.
